Waterskiing - Wake board

I'm a newbie to DSLR, I've had my Rebel XTi for a couple of months.
I rode along with my friends on their ski boat this weekend. I'm pretty happy with these but would welcome ideas for improving this type of sport picture.

Looks like you missed focus slightly on the first.... love the face though.

Second one is a little dark... here is my quick fix. Adjusted curves and exposure, highlight recovery and slight fill light in LR. yous still cant see her eyes which I think really takes away from the image.

These are really nice for just starting out. First is definately OOF, second is a tough exposure but I love the lines and the shape of the water.
