Off topic a bit.

I must say I like the way the new Sony flash swivel's.

Assuming it holds up to abuse it looks nice.

$500 MSRP like Canon, so it's just as much.
What dealers sell it for is another question...

maybe the 580 EX III will do that...

woah, the grip on the sony looks way to complicating to use...

and the jog wheel is in a different position... ??? the Human Factors department in Sony is slacking off

If the next 580EX is going to be like that... I will be selling\doing all I can to buy it!!
That would almost eliminate the need for a flash bracket!! (well, the main reason of it)

I don't see it eliminating the need for a flash bracket. The light may be above the lens in vertical orientation but it's still off to one side.

I swivel the flash head to bounce off a wall or behind me. This design doesn't make that any easier.

Actually other than the fact that the Sony grip would probably cost more due to the extra controls, i think it would be a welcome addition to some...

I saw this on CNET/Crave last week. It certainly would be useful. Until then I guess I'll just have to invest in a flash bracket.

Rather bulky looking. Then again I have a 550EX which isn't exactly small compared to its more modern replacements.

Can't view this from work, but are we talking about this post I made of just the pic?

(Obviously not a video link.)
