This rather young mated pair have been regular visitors to my backyard.
The inclusion of peanuts (thanks for the tip canonloader) into their diet has whipped them into a frenzy ! :D

Seriously, I feel that selective 'motion blur' adds some drama to bird captures. Although photos like these would be ineffective for static bird I.D. shots, or art prints, I find them intriguing. I hope that I'm not breaking any 'birders rules by portraying our friends in this manner.

I like the effect. and I was just watching a female out there this morning, munching on those little shelled peanuts. I have always fed peanuts, for two years now, but the in the shell kind. This spring, I saw a male cardinal trying to make off with one and open it. He was having a hard time with it. So I wasn't very surprised when I saw them eating these new shelled peanuts I've been buying. It took the other birds longer than I thought to pick up on the idea though, but now, even the darn House Sparrows are eating them. :)

You are soo lucky, and talented! Those cardinals never come close enough to me. When they do, the color is so difficult to hold. Their red feathers and orange beaks give me fits!

Enjoyed your set immensely (and I am bit jealous!)

Thanks for your kind comments, my friends.

This concluding photo from the same evening shows the power of the peanut !
The male seemed intent on hiding his prize in the distant straw. Maybe he'll retrieve it at a future date, like a squirrel ?
