camera insurance for uk (lots of used geaR)

I have lots of gear. nearly all bought used. who would you recommend to insure with?

I reckon used value is £4000 replacement value new about 6.5 ish...

Any suggestions and what should i expect to pay. so far quotes around £30 per annum

I use http://www.photoguard.​co.uk/home.asp (external link) as I read most other camera specific companies are a pain if you claim. However you won't get a quote as low as 30, guessing that's an add on to your house hold.

no another company but readin their excess dets its stupid £150 per item minimum excess haha

might just insure my best glass and bodies..

ouch £150 excess per item, would defeat the point on most my lenses (250-450). Currently paying £12 per month for £2500 of cover with no excess, probably a bit high but don't have my own house cover to add it onto.

Photo guard also have Pro cover so if your working events covers someone trying to sue you for tripping over your gear etc as far as I know...

I recently renewed my house insurance and added my camera equipment to the list of items valued at over £1500. My policy jumped up slightly, but I'm now not majorly concerned about dropping a lens or getting it stolen. I'm sure you could tag it too your home policy Tobiah and then at a later stage when your earning a full time wage from your photography, seek out a more fitting policy.
