I have a Lowepro 200AW and I would like to strap my tripod or monopod to it. Do any owners of this bag have any idea how I go about this? For instance, do Lowe make any accessory straps for such a purpose? I've searched various sites and discovered that although Lowe make all sorts of add-ons for lenses etc, they don't seem to have one for attaching a monopod. Has anyone any ideas?

Would there be another name for this bag? I don't see "200 AW" on their website.

Roy,

My Vertex 200AW came with a tripod/monopod support attachment as standard. It's a "U", or cup shape shape, of what appears to be a flat sheet of thin springy metal covered in a canvas with webbing on each side holding it into the U shape. I fits to a webbing strap sewn across the bottom centre of the bag. The tripod sits with it's feet in this, and a strap loop holds the tripod top in place. Both the top strap cover and the bottom "U" have an orange tripod symbol sewn on.

I have to say that the "U" is a weak design feature. I'd prefer something a bit more solid that attaches with something a bit more reliable than a bit of webbing and a 1.5 inch square of velcro.

Provided you have the horizontal central webbing sewn into the bottom end of the bag, you should be able to attach this "U" piece very easily. And at the top its just a straight forward quick release adjustable webbing strap which can be sewn on.

Is the Vertex the same as the Lowepro? I ask because there is nothing sewn on the bottom of my bag. It may be that we're talking about two different bags!

Roy,

Yes, the Vertex 200AW is a Lowepro backpack, sat between the smaller 100 and a simply enormous 300 that looks as though it straps onto the back of an elephant. The 200 is big, and when loaded, very heavy. Although it does remain comfortable to wear, heavy or not.

Strange that they would use the same model name and number in a different range.

But you might be able to get the bottom "U" from Lowepro and attach it yourself? Although I'd be wary of trying to use that method slung sideways. It would be too easy for the feet to slip out. As fitted to my bag, the tripod (and monopod) sit vertically on the centre line.

Yes, they are different bags. Lowe do various lens cases that fit on the side of the Slingshot, so I would have thought that did one for tripods/monopods. I'll keep looking!

On my Slingshot 200 I've been using the lower strap to hold the tripod. Downside of the bag design is that the tripod needs removing to swing it round safely, but with this method the tripod hangs by my right leg out of the way.

Do you mean the strap that is supposed to go around your waist? How does that work?
