Oh shoot I forgot, for that shot I had it on one shot focus, I just centered the focus on my dad, the golfer, then held the focus and moved the frame so he was on the left.

might i suggest going lower when shooting golf.

ie, shoot up, that would eliminate some of the shadow.

don't you love the 300 2.8

Great timing on these shots. I like the fact that you got grass and tees flying along with classic ball shots. Looks like a great time of day to be shooting this, too.

I've taken some of golfers in competition and they (my buds golfing) always tell me not to take pictures during the down stroke or be far enough away that they don't hear it apparently it's bother some. Great shots love the last one

ah thanks everyone. For the last shot, I was a long ways away from my dad. LOL I drove the golf cart to get to my spot:)
And I was for the most part either kneeling or laying down for these shots, so I'm not sure how much lower I could go:P
As far as the shutter noise, even on a quite golf course, I noticed the noise did carry to my dad, but considering he's my dad I wasn't too concerned about him getting upset about the noise(minus the fact that if he messes up he would have hit me:)) But I covered a local golf tournament last weekend and I was really careful about the noise and only took photos when it wouldn't be a distraction. But as a result of not knowing the players, I was a little more timid about kneeling somewhat in front of them while hitting.

And we're playing on some course on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

Thanks again everyone:)

The last one is an example of a good photo, AND a bad follow-through! lol

My favorites are 1 and 3... the last one is very good, but next time around I'd try for a somewhat bigger DOF. I find Ball => Bokeh a bit distracting.
