I've been contracted by Mid-Ohio to shoot all of their major events for 2008. This puts a different spin on how I approach the weekend's events. Since most of the images are for promotional purposes such as track brochures and collateral, I need to put my personal wants aside and make sure I got the types of shots the track and their graphic designer need. So, the on-track work is to make sure we get a lot of looks... especially of any Acuras or Hondas (track sponsor) and capture the feel of the track. I also need to get paddock w/ crowds, infield activities, podium and people, signage and backgrounds. Since a lot of the "crowd" stuff is only going to be available during the ALMS/IRL weekend, I'll use the IRL day to gather a lot of the facility and crowd shots.

What I am looking forward to is this week's vintage Grand Prix... I want to see if I can't replicate a vintage feel to a set of images... and I'm looking forward to the bikes later this summer.

An additional bonus is hanging out with Chris Clark.... we've had a lot of fun trying to ferret out new looks of Mid-Ohio pointing our 500mm every which way we can think of. LOL

So, here are a few humble offerings:

Great shots as always JT. I really really like #2. I am growing fonder of the wide shots I've seen lately. *mental note: shoot wide*

Number 5 makes me think were I'd be watching the race if I was dating number 8.

I figured you were in at the deep end when I saw the start of the Grand Am broadcast, before I had to leave for the weekend. Nasty weather!!!

Loving number 8 her eyes mesmerize me.

#2 and #3 are stellar shots and well #8.. who wouldn't want that as promo material? ;) Great shots as always John, hopefully the Vintage series has a better and less unfortunate run than they did at Mosport this past weekend.

I like #2 John. Should be fun, if not busy, shooting the events there!

#'s 2, 4 & 6 do it for me, and I think we all thank you for #8 - :p

Another difference between pros and amateurs is that pros can make girls and cars pose for the camera. (I'm referring to shots 2 & 8 for you Nikon shooters out there)

Wide can often help tell the story. It's easy to get wrapped up in the tight shots of cars, but at the end of the day, you need to put your subject into context.

Thanks,

JT
