bemerick, the chicago river!? Bokeh is too bokehed to tell?! O`well, it's still a good shot. I would suggest a little more contrast though to make your subject pop more.

Where did you purchase your 24-105? I am guessing that will be my next lens, that one and the EF-S 10-22mm for all my SUPER Wide angle shots

I bought it on here, though I don't have it anymore, wanted something faster like the 24-70L but the compromise is the IS and extra reach. Don't have the kit lens anymore either, replaced it with the 17-85 IS (still not sure about it either). I'm basically going through a test phase right now, might get back the 24-105 later on.

Wow you sold it?! That's insane! If I ever got a hold of that lens, I would have kept it for ever! The 24-70 is a great lens SUPER FAST! My little brother and my twin have it actually. They love it, but my twin doesn't use his camera at all! I'm like, why don't you pass over that camera equipment to me!! LOL!

Yeah I'm more into portraiture than anything else, at least thats where my interest lies mostly. So I think the 24-70L would be a better choice for that purpose or even the 17-55. I have a 100 macro also for that reason, I'll get the 24-70 soon.

Hello everyone. Old school 35mm user slr user. Bought a Canon A80 years ago and have missed my SLR ever since. Finally took the plunge and bought a XSI/450D.

I am really enjoying the camera so far.

I have noticed that people on this site sell there lenses alot. Especially kit lenses. I don't see why any one would want to sell the 18-55mm f/3.5 IS!? It's great if you use a flash with it!

Hello, I'm completely new to this thread, I found it via a google search when I was trying to figure out which camera to buy, although I am 100% new to photography. My main hobbies are computers and motorcycles, I do quite a bit of SFX on my computer and the like, but I recently picked up a Canon EOS Rebel XSi w/ the 18-55 kit lens and i'm loving it so far. I've had it for about a week now and i'm just curious if this is a camera that will last me a while especially once I get more experieced with photography or should I look into a 40D possibly before my return policy is up ?.I love taking pictures because it's fun and love sharing the pictures with people. There are a few things i'm not 100% sure about yet but i've been scouring through threads trying to pick up as much as I can before asking a bunch of newbie questions and maybe someone can point me to some more appropriate sites/threads that maybe helped you to get a better grasp.

One thing that totally confuses me are mm's of lenses and filters, how do I know what lens is right for me when I want to buy more, and how exactly do I know what to apply the mm to? If Iwant to buy a new filter, what size would I buy etc? I've noticed I can't zoom in too much with my kit lens, i've mainly just been taking pictures at wildlife parks since i've gotten the camera.

Also should I get a new flash? and how do I know what new flash would be best or me?

Hope this isn't too much of a ramble :-D
