It's limited because the way the camera takes the exposure, with the first and second curtains, only a part of the image will get exposed with the flash - you CAN have higher sync, but with a external flash as far as I know (it strobes/pluses the flash)

I have an option in the custom function for the first or second curtain, would that change it any?

I knew that there was something about the off camera flashes, but not the built-in one.

No that wont help in regards to the built in flash and high shutter speeds.

Here take a read of this:- http://www.rpphoto.com/howto/view.asp?articleID=1026 (external link) because I'm not really explaining it properly (i just woke up), that will give you a better idea.

A couple of shots taken at the California Academy of Science in SF in the rainforest exhibit ... this bird looked like it was drooling over the butterfly.

Hey guys! :)

Am i partta the club yet??

Hehe, I just ordered a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

so far all i got is the kit lens and a 50mm 1.8

I got invited to do some wedding photography, already have an engagement session set up. Though I said for weddings I will be going ONLY as a 2nd photographer, since I don't have the experience... tho its all good.
Therefore I got my tamron.. and untill the wedding i will be looking around for a flash.. 580ex ii... i think thats the most popular one i see around the forum.
Does it have a bouncer? (the little white strip at the top of flash.. ? i think its called a bouncer)

anyway, some shots for u guys.
keep in mind im still a noob.

Hi, Nick,

Nice work!
You will like the Canon 580EX II, it is a super flash. May I suggest when you get it (or even before) read up as much as you can on the use of the Canon flash, yours in particular. There is a great deal to using the flash well. If your companion photog has the same flash don't be afraid to ask advice regarding flash settings, etc. I read where in certain instances one must go into the flash settings and adjust up or down the power, and all sorts of stuff. You can manage the flash, so don't be discouraged. And, when you get your flash, start practicing, and, read some more, and then more practice.
Good luck on your new adventure.

davo1979, thank you.. he did a good pose, and i got lucky enough to capture the moment. :)

Reinheim, thanks for the kind words!
So far i take 99% of the shots on Manual. So for me its all about trying to adjust to the best settings..
By the way, for the 580ex ii, do i need a special mount for it? or right out of the box will fit the 450d ?
