I received my new lens (Sigma 17-70 Macro) in the post the other day. Though I would take the Jeep into the foothills and find a few photo opportunities. Well, the Jeep decided to die on me leaving myself and my 10yr old daughter stranded. While waiting for the rescue team...we decided the take a few shots:
What do you think?

This is where the Jeep stopped working:

A nearby Honey Bee:

The view in front of us:

View to our side:

A fly sat on the Jeeps soft top:

My dirty side view mirror:

My rescue team...yay!:

In the 4th image I feel that the background should be in focus for aesthetic reasons. The best way to accomplish that is to take full advantage of the principles of depth of field and hyperfocal distance. Even then, it may be necessary with a wide opening to back up a little bit to make it all work.

Your next to last shot is also very interesting - almost abstract. Even tho one cannot figure out where the focus is, the shot gets you interested and holds your attention.

Congratulations on all of them.

Thanks for your input Robert. Although I do have a confession to make. The 4th shot was actually taken by my ten year old daughter. I just set the camera up for her...:) Start them young I say...lol.

Thanks again, your kind words mean a great deal.

Pretty darn good for a ten year old!

Nice job. I am still not able to get anywhere near this sharpness with my rebel. Ok back to spanning more pictures.

I like #3 - it's like your sending a message beyond the sign itself. I agree with Bob about the 2nd to last being compelling in some inexplicable way (well, at least I can't explain exactly why I like it).

#1...I hate it. It reminds me of the way my '89 Jeep would sit there on the many occasions it broke down. I guess it wasn't that bad, really. Just the alternator (3 times), the ECU (twice, plus periodic mystery hiccups), the rear prop shaft (once - but I stopped driving before it launched), the instrument panel lights (lasted just to the end of the warranty), catalytic converter, muffler (okay, that fell off because I didn't get the new cat on right)......
