Right, the policy in the US is somewhat strange but generally it's one carry on and a "personal" item which can be a suitcase, small backpack, purse, etc. I've never had trouble with my laptop/camera messenger bag and the bazooka as my carryons but if it were a much more cramped/smaller plane then that could be an issue (so far it's been fine on all regional jets and puddle jumpers I've been on).

Sounds a bit more photographer friendly than the UK! The only way I think I could get round this would be to get a thinktank backpack and use the bazooka attachment. Even then the dimensions of the overall tripod / camera bag might be over the limit.

Here's an update to an old thread!!

I just got back from a trip to California with my Gitzo Bag (GC-2100).
First of all, there were absolutely no problems taking it on the plane. No comments or questions from anyone.
Secondly, the bag was perfect! Not too big and clumsy, easy to carry, and good protection for the tripod and ball head.
Summary--totally happy with my decision to get this bag!

Does anyone know if the Bazooka will fit on the Airport International roller?

I ordered a Benro padded bag for my Manfrotto. Should have it in a week or so.

I have the Bazooka & the International. Strap the Bazooka, and you're good to go. It's not that much difference in height depending on your tripod. I have the 190XB with 488RC and it's very compact. So, yes.

Thanks Suzie,

I'm happy with the tripod putting into the supplied holder which comes with the International, but sometimes I wishes it's a little more out of sight when rolling in a large public area or something.

To those who have the bazooka and lightstands,
would like to ask, can it fit 2x manfrotto nano lightstands? and any space left for umbrellas?

am trying to find a compact bag to fit my strobist equipment altogether: to fit the compact lightstand, umbrellas, hopefully my 2x vivitar flash as well =x

Which Bazooka should I look at for the Gitzo GT3541LS?

There are 3...

Bazooka
Small Tripod Case attaches to roller and backpack.

Big Bazooka
Holds tripods with flip lever quick releases for legs.

Humongous Bazooka
Holds large tripods and light stands.

Mind if I bump this? I know a few of us are waiting for some responses on which Bazooka fits best for the GT3541LS...so waiting on some feedback.
I'm pretty sure the Big Bazooka is the right size for the Gitzo legs and M20 setup, but would like some confirmation.

Sometimes people are refused a tripod as carry-on. I just wrap mine in my big towel and stick it in my cargo bag amongst a load of soft clothes. No big deal and one of those tripod bags won't provide any better protection IMO. Different matter if you want something to carry it around in. I think the Bazooka is best design for that.

The regular Bazooka is not wide enough to hold my 3541LS. It is great for my 2530 with M10. I haven't tried the other sized Bazookas yet.

Thanks jhom, I would assume them the Big Bazooka would hold the GT3541LS and M20 pretty easy...I'm going to order it and will post a review.

Did you ever get the Big Bazooka? I just ordered the same setup as you (GT3541LS, M20, & RRS LR II coming by the end of the week), and I need a tripod bag.

The regular Bazooka has an internal diameter of 5 inches, and the big Bazooka has an internal diameter of 6 inches.

Yes, the Big Bazooka is what you want. If fits nicely in there. I wrap up the tripod and head in the Gitzo bag and stuff the whole thing into the Bazooka, its a great bag. No regrets.
