Last Saturday I had one of the hardest mornings of my life. My 13 and a half year old female Golden Retriever was put out of her misery, she is finally pain free. She has been part of my life for all but 8 weeks of her life. Along with her mate Monte (who died nearly five years ago) they will be missed so much.
They saw me through my marriage breakup and divorce, my five years of living alone and the acceptance of my partner.
Their love and affection was unconditional and freely given. They were such an integral part of my family and I miss them so much.

This is a photo of how I like to remember her.

Bob

Sorry to hear of your loss Bob. she looks well groomed and well looked after. a lovely specimen. sounds to me like she had a good owner, can't say that for all dogs... unconditional love on both sides I feel.

Bob,

I feel your pain. We've put both our girls out of their misery in the past two years at age 12. The picture next to my name is Chuka shot during the last two weeks of her life.

Your Penny looks beautiful and content. I'm sure you gave her and Monte the best lives possible.

woof!

Thank you for the kind words. Hopefully she is coming home today (well, her ashes are). Her urn will be placed next to Monte's.

This a picture of Monte who died 5 years ago.

I feel your 'chagrin' Clubbyr8.... I still miss my cat I had to "put to sleep" six years ago, and even if I have two adorable ones with me right now.
Cherish her memory and go out to find a new best friend!

I'm sorry for your loss, you were very lucky to have them as long as you did. The last one I lost was only 4, and it broke my heart.

She's home now. I've put her urn next to Monte. It's been nearly five years since they've been together.
