I would like to know if it is possible to set off my sigma super 500 flash with my popup flash, and if so how?

Don't know if the preflash form the popup flash will fool Sigma, but the instructions to set it to be triggered optically is in here, give it a shot.

I don't have the 500 but my 530 will fire from my pop up. Set it to C0 SL using the mode button.

Hope that helps.

It will fire with the pre-flash, before the shutter opens.
