No matter where I try to shoot from...there will always be distractions.

the background doesn't look that bad.

you got to remember, these sites were "designed" for play only, they were never "designed" to accommodate photog's

Nothing wrong with these! You have cropped well to remove background and your DOF is good so that the background is fuzzy, although I see #2 was at f5.6...if lens permits always shoot f2.8 or as low as you can go to blur BG as much as possible. I don't mind people so much in BG...it's the garbage cans, litter, etc. that you sometimes can't avoid.

By the way, your first shot looks like it was shot on our local Pee Wee diamond...see below for eerie similarity (same type of fence, same path in the background, same color dirt...):

I had restrictions in this game and had to shoot way back...had to put the 2x on the 70-200 f2.8 L but otherwise, I shoot f2.8 always. I haven't been able to convince my other half to let me get the big lens yet...soon!

The other shoot is Pee Wee (11-12 yrs old). Thanks!

It means the sites (baseball diamonds) weren't designed or built for you to get good backgrounds for your pictures. I doubt that was given any consideration at all when they built them :)

The sites were built so that people could play ball and watch there children with ease.

yupe, that's right, I am actually surprised that the parents are not all pressed up on the fencing and yelling out to their kids on what to do...

I've seen some over protective parents.
