What do you store your light stands in?

I recently bought a few light stands for my flashes and am wondering how I should transport them all to any gig I attend. I was thinking of using a baseball duffle bag. Has anyone tried those? Any other ides? I just don't want to spend $200 on a "light stand" bag when something else would do just the same.

I have a small Dyna tripod that came with a bag---- so I put my light stands and monopod in that bag.

I use a padded 48" bag by I believe a company called SP and I got it from B&H. Just do a search for 48" light bag or case or something to that effect.

Generally I don't use anything: I just put them in the trunk of the car.
A few photographers I work for use a Manfrotto bag, but as long as there are not more then 3 stands, I prefer to carry them without a bag: Less bulk, and the bag offers little benefit IMO.

I store them from a Manfrotto 027 however; very nice.

I use an old snowboard bag. Plenty long, padded and has rollers on one end.

I use an old sports training bag, You know the boxy rectangular ones? Easily stores up to 4 stands and 2 speedlights + accesories.

DOMKE makes a bag for light stands and tripods. it;s about 36 to 40 inches
long, it will hold a lot of equipment. I don't remember the price I paid
I bought it at Sammys in Los Angeles.

We had the same question until one day we were walking through Walmart and they were clearancing their camping chairs... A light bulb went off in my head.

We purchased two chairs for $2.95 each. The chairs themselves are in our garage and the carrying bags are in the office with our light stands inside them. So far they have worked perfectly. We can fit two light stands in each bag and the bags have the drawstring closure at the top and a decent carrying handle.

I saw a bunch on ebay.. but no guarantees on the quality though. But a bag is a bag... as long as the items are not like 200lbs
