~$600 to spend... on what?

I have some $600 to spend on Photography equipment. I'm contemplating between a 35L f1.4 or a flash + PocketWizard PLUS II...

Granted the money won't be enough for a 35L, but if I choose to, I can certainly wait a month or two and purchase one.

I know it's a very individualized question, but if you had the spare money, what which one would go for? Or free to suggest something else you might consider...

That's really not a fair comparison -- one comes to around $600 and the other $1200. Why not consider other less expensive primes to go along with the flash? A 580EX II and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 are next to buy on my list.

As you have on your list the 100 macro, why not get it now. Since it has the rebate.

If you don't currently have a flash, you definatly need a flash!

If I had $600 it would be a tough choice between a UWA lens, or a 30D which are going for cheap these days...

Given your gear list, I would go for the Macro or 100-400 before the 35 or another flash. But you would know better than me.

I already have a 580EXII, 10-22, and a 40D

What else?

It would be helpful if you said what you need the lens to shoot?

BTW, that's why I was considering another flash with pocket wizards and maybe throw in a pair of light stands and umbrellas

Oh crap, my sig is old. That 50 f1.4 is long gone. I had to finance the 70-200 f2.8 IS L

probaly a Kodak pocket brownie and spend the $ 599 change on beer and pizza

OH NO! We've been scammed by a bogus gear list.

If it were me I would probably save some more money (actually I would just use credit) and get the 100-400. I am sure you can get great photos of your daughter with what you have.
