I did a shoot with a bunch of clothes from a clothing manufacturer and they are interested in purchasing the photos to use for assorted things like brochures, posters, etc.

I am putting together a copyright licensing package for them with prices, etc and want to know how other people have done this. I have looked up different prices using the stock pricing calculator: http://photographersindex.com/stockprice.htm (external link) but they were talking about using a lot of photos so I want to be able to give them a structure like one photo for brochure full page usage is $x or ten photos is $xx or if you want usage for any of the photos from the shoot for any usage then it's $xxxx. At least my thought is this might be the best way to get the most value?

Thoughts are appreciated.

C&C always appreciated for my posts :)

It would probably be easier to find out what their actual usage will be, ie, number of images, what media, etc. Use that to create an internal price to understand what the pricing/usage is.

Then, draft up a usage agreement with a price for the whole package. Something similar to the following;

Usage for xyz company to use the following images in the defined media for a period of x time. list any limitations, all other rights reserved, locations to be used (worldwide, country, region, or local, etc), and so on

brochures; 12 images 1/4 page or less, 2 images front/back cover
posters; 1 image 16x20 poster, print run not to exceed 5,000
website; 5 images small insert, 1 image main home page (size)
media; nbr images, limitations, etc
(if you want to list specific images for each use, you can do that also)

Usage fees for above media, $x,xxxx. Add in usage fees are not granted until payment is received in full (excellent leverage if they use the images and don't pay the bill).

I don't think you want to start creating a matrix listing all the various ways they may eventually use the images as it will be extensive and time consuming. Just price what they are currently asking for, and list it individually, or I prefer to list it as a package. There are advantages and disadvantages to each.
