A few more shots from the F1 - spent a couple of days there this year. Struggled a bit on Wednesday with soft pics, but cured that today by changing the selected AF points.

All of them are excellent but I absolutely love the Force India in the gravel trap, a brilliant capture.

just out of interest, what's causing the loss of contrast between the lower right (as we see it) wheel and the upper left on pics, 3,5,6?

Contrast change is caused by shooting through the wire fencing. Picked shots where it's not too evident on my monitor - had some lovely sharp pics ruined by it.

Re focus points. Struggled using the centre point only on Wednesday. Switched them all on today, and saw a huge improvement.

Kit used was an EOS 20D with either an EF 70-300 IS, or a 100-400 L. Pic 4 was with the 70-300.

I don't know how you do it.

I am a total newb to this kind of thing and I was out trying my hand at panning today. I gotta admit that I just don't get it!

I got the nice blur in the background by tracking with the car as I shot, but I could not, for the life of me, get a crisp picture of the actual car. They all came out looking soft.

The fastest lens I have is my Nifty 50 and even with that, the cars were softer than I like. Is it just a "practice practice practice" skill or is there more tech than I know about?

Any tips?

(I hope this is ok to ask here!)

Love the shots, mate!

I assume that's what caused Fisi to go to hospital then.

Loving the haze of heat mixing in with the softer backgrounds - especially in the Ferrari pic.
