The crop is much better. I might have left some room to the right to "throw into"

So called pitching guru once told me technically if toe slides on dirt - legal, if foot hops (goes) in air - illegal. I know if you watch baseball in super slo=mo the pitcher's foot is never in contact with the rubber at release. I like the shot too.

Illegal pitch.

The picture is nice sharp; Good timing.

EXACTLY my first thought. Having coached FP softball for 10 years that was immediately apparent. One foot must remain in contact with the ground until the ball is released. I've seen lots of shoes with holes in the toe of that drag foot.

Looks legal to me. She just has to push off the rubber, not stay on it. The dirt flying up behind her back leg looks to be coming off of the edge of the rubber, which is legal (unless you're referring to something else).

It's not.

From the ASA and USSSA rule book.

ASA -

"LEAPING.(Fast Pitch only) An act by the pitcher which causes the pitcher to be airborne on the initial move and move from the pitcher's plate.

"Additionally, under the ASA Rulebook Pitching Regulations for Fast Pitch Softball:
"Pushing off and dragging the pivot foot in contact with the ground is required. If a hole has been created, the pivot foot may drag no higher than the level plane of the ground."

USSSA -

"A LEAP is when both feet are airborne."

Further, the USSSA's Pitching rules state:
"The pivot foot may remain in contact with or may push off and drag away from, the pitching plate prior to the front foot touching the ground, as long as the pivot foot remains in contact with the ground."

This IS a leap:

Sorry it was the first thought that crossed my mind. Others explained the reasons why.

Did not mean to cause a stir or take away from the OP. It is a nice capture.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not an ump or a pitching coach. I see leaping all the time shooting softball tourneys. :)
