Does anyone have experience with this beauty dish available from ebay? It is about $50.

All metal (aluminum) Superior quality and design. Metal speed ring. Great alternative to a softbox.
Center dome reflects light into main dish for diffused light. Includes elastic soft white cover. 3 7/8" 3 prong Bowens type speed ring fits many brands including Li Shuai, CY, Bowens etc. Weighs 1lb 7 oz (652 grams) and is 41cm (16") in diameter.

Haven't tried these, but I'd be curious how that particular curvature and reflective coating works if anyone has one. They look at bit like a retro-fitted wok lid or cookware because of that ledge built in near the outer edge. The higher-quality beauty dishes are formed to produce a certain angle of coverage and focus of their beams.

Again - makes me wonder how this would perform ... but for $50 I'd think someone wants to experiment with 'em.

I've bought few items from that seller, he has the most reasonable shipping charge in the whole eBay. But didn't look into that BD because of it's size. 16" is bit too small for me.

The ledge is for the grid, I think.

I am interested in this one...

$50 sounds a bit much for what it looks to be.

That's a good sized dish, Lotto, but will a Bowens mount work for you? You can't tell from the eBay photos whether the mount ring is removeable and if it might be easily replaced with some other standard-sized ring. Also, are you sure you want a silver rather than a white interior?

I think most of the dish connectors are bolted or screwed on. And if it's Bowens S mount, I can modify it to fit the AB. Changing the reflector color is rather easy with spray paint. But I do have concerns about transporting that 27.5" dish with grid to locations.

Not to get too far off the OP's topic but finding a carrier for a 27" dish might prove challenging. There are lots of case options for the more standard 22" size. I'm on the waiting list for this one:

I just ordered his 22" grid yesterday:

looks like a clothes drier vent outlet and doesn't look much like $ 50 worth.
