hey hunny come look at this

(get's off the couch)

What?

look at what you could take pictures of

OHH CUTE! is that a fox?

he looks nice and cuddly

See you could take pics with me and see lots of cuddly cute animals!

(leaves the room)

(yells from the couch)

does that mean you have to buy those long white lenses now?

I just started cracking up!!!

(sorry for the lack of quotations and proper grammar, I just finished class for the evening and don't feel like exercising my brain!)

You've got her on the ropes, go in for the knockout! This time next week you could have a 1Ds Mark III round your neck :D

Anke, What was the event all those togs where there for in the first place?

Its a photography day at a local wildlife park. You get to go in the cages with the animals. :) More here (external link).

About half of them I recall. But to be honest you could get away with the kit lens, the animals were so close. Perhaps you have something like it near you?

Walking around London today I got quite a few shots of other photographers. So many, in fact, that I've started deleting them (or not taking them in the first place) unless there's something interesting about them. Here are some of the ones I kept.

All shot with a 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens on a Canon 40D. Post-processing: tweaked fill light, highlights, and shadow in Picasa. Also tweaked sharpness and saturation in some cases. Saved at 85% quality in the Gimp.

Click the picture to go to the Flickr page where you can see the large version.

Statue Photographer
1/250 sec @ f/5, ISO 800, Av mode, fl:220mm, partial metering

This living statue on London's South Bank has been photographed so many times he's now started getting his own back.

1D Shooter
1/160 sec @ f/5.6, ISO 800, Av mode, fl:280mm, partial metering

This tourist was walking around with what looked very much like a Canon 1D casually slung from his wrist on a strap. I was tempted to ask if he'd shot any good ones...

Short And Sweet
1/1250 sec @ f/5, ISO 400, Av mode, fl:200mm, partial metering

This young Oriental tourist at Trafalgar Square looked so short and sweet I just had to get a picture.

Morris Shooter
1/400 sec @ f/5.6, ISO 500, Av mode, fl:300mm, partial metering

There were quite a few photographers at the St George's Day festival at London's Covent Garden today. Including this Morris man. He's already taken the picture, now he's just chimping.

Serious Shooter
1/320 sec @ f/4.5, ISO 400, Av mode, fl:95mm, partial metering

This guy looks like a serious photographer. I mean very serious. Just look at his face...

His And Hers
1/250 sec @ f/5, ISO 640, Av mode, fl:210mm, partial metering

They have a camera each. His looks like a Canon 1D, hers like a new 450D. How sweet.

The Nikon Club
1/125 sec @ f/4, ISO 400, Av mode, fl:70mm, partial metering

I found these tourists at Covent Garden. The guy on the far left had what looked like a D3 and another had a D200. I couldn't see what the other two were carrying, but they were Nikons.

Hi Garry

that is a beautifully presented, informative post with some great visual narrative.
