Not meant to knock or mock but unless he's missing the lens collar, he's cheating himself out of the max stability he could have.

Our location was a truck stop. We shot photos of truck drivers who weren't going to be home for the holidays. We had 4 photographers and a lead guy doing all of the editing and printing. I was the only Canon guy there. My backdrop and lights are visible in the background. We had 2 backdrops setup.
