I notice a lot of Press guys tape over the model of the lens, and every part with writing on it is also taped...but yea, Im terrified to put tape on my camera, "it dont look perty no mores"

I would never put duct tape on my beautiful lenses. ;-)a

Maybe its a hotfix cheapo way for them to hold their worn out loosened hoods on with. Who knows.... :p

I don't recall ever seeing tape used on anything. I watch a lot of C-span, and there are always huge numbers of professional photographers at senate hearings and other meets, and you can see them and their gear. No one there does that.

I do see people putting camo sleezes on their lenses and then stand right out in the open to shoot birds. But that's not tape and protects the lens barrel.

I think the few that do tape, and these look more like product stickers than tape, do it for the same reason people put bumper stickers on their cars. :)

I will never put any sticker on my gear, i know my wife and my sister, both are fans of stickers, i just got my wife a mobile, next day it was full of stickers, i can imagine if i lend my wife or sister my old nikon, i hardly will know my old camera.

I'll play....this is from a wedding 2 years ago. This chap worked with film and was not keen on digital, maybe that has chnaged by now.
