I am thinking about purchasing a new lens for my Canon 400D. All I have is the one that came with the body when I originally purchased it.
What are the recommendations up to £800. Its for taking photos of horses, and some at speed and distance.

I’m not sure about the prices where you’r at but good candidates to take a look at would be the Canon 70-200 F/4, the Canon 70-300IS at the lower price points or the 24-105IS if you don’t need the range or the 100-400IS if you need more. All are outstanding lenses that will deliver razor sharp pics. Others to consider are the 70-200 f/4IS, the 70-300DO or the 70-2000 f/2.8 if you need low light capability. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
