So I've done some graphic / web work for a recording studio. They specialize in track production, live sound, recording, and mastering audio and will do this for pretty much anyone.
The owner knew that I did photography as well and wanted to know if I was interested in doing portraits and groupshots of bands. He wanted a general quote from me for my time, he was going to bundle everything into a package so there would be a markup on his end as well.
My style is straight photo journalistic, I'm not familiar / comfortable with much studio work and lighting.
I'm comfortable with my ability in shooting the band with available lighting, but know that I can't produce certian looks that I need reflectors / strobes / flashes and what not.
I told him $100 an hour is my working rate, this will include PP work and travel. And of course there's a minimum of 1 hour (travel to his studio is about 40 minutes round trip) We haven't signed any contracts yet, but I know he's also looking for someone to produce band literature to package everything into a press kit. I'm capable to doing that as well (since graphic / print design is my forte).
My questions is, what clauses should I specifically look for in the contract? For press kits, who will technically own the photos? I would still want full rights but I'm afraid they'll want me to release rights to the studio.
