I'm looking to buy these suckers but can't seem to find the quantity of those per order. They are running around $188 @ Adorama. Is it $188 for 1 or 2 units?

If I have 2 flashes, I guess I need 3 of them (1 on camera + 2 on flashes). Does that mean I'll be paying $188 x 3?!?!?

Unfortunately you will need 3. They are awesome, but pricey.

They are about $200.00 each so for two flash units you will need three units, or about $600.00

Enjoy! Lon

And don't forget that you need cords to connect your flashes to units. Lon can direct you with which ones you need. I highly recommend flash zebra.

Looking at your gear, you can put one PW on your camera, one on your 580EXII then use your 580EXII to trigger your 420 optically. If you cannot trigger your 420 optically, you can buy a optical slave pretty cheap.

I wouldn't get too excited about tripping EX flash units with an optical slave. Not sure about the 420EX but most don't react well with those slave units.

I bought three PW's, and two Nikon flashes that have the pc terminals so I am able to use the cord that came with the PW's.
That is correct, they come one to a box for about $188.

If the price doesn't dissuade you and you still want to get a set, you can get them a little cheaper from Norman Camera. A set of two for $350 ($175 a piece) or one for $178.50.

Wow, thanks guys!

That is quite pricey. Almost up there closing on a nice L lens...

Anyone has experience with the knock off brand they sell on eBay (PT-04 or something of that sort). I'm sure they are inferior, but if they work... do I really need to care?

They work, just not well. If you don't mind misfires and assorted other hassles, go right ahead

I've been using Cactus V2's for almost a year now with no problems. I've loved them and they've worked perfectly everytime.

The downside to them is their range - I can only stand maximum of about 20 meters away..if that..before they won't fire. I guess doing the antenna mod would help.

In the end, if you're only wanting to use your strobes for studio-type lighting, within a small area, grab a set off Ebay...you'll be happy.

If the PWs are too rich for you but you still want something decent, consider the Elinchrom EL-Skyport Universal set. Search this forum for "Skyport" for lots of threads about them. Here's a recent one:
