I finally decided that I'm going with the Domke F-802 with the tenba inserts & postal strap! Whew, finally that headache is over :p

BUT...now I'm looking for a smaller footprint bag for the times when I know I only need a max of two lenses and my flash. For instace, when I'm shooting macros, I only need my 100mm macro and my kenko tubes + flash. There's no need to lug the 802 around that day!

I was looking at the Domke F-10. However, does anyone know if it can hold the 70-200 2.8 IS unattached? For instance, if the situation calls for my soon to be 40D (gripped), 17-40L, 70-200 2.8 IS and 430 EX, will that work in the F-10, with the 70-200 unattached of course?

Thank you in advance!

Take a look at the F-3x. It holds one of my bodies with a couple of lenses up to and including a mounted 70-200 2.8. One of the outside pockets takes a flash nicely. I haven't yet seen the F-10 anywhere.

Jon Is it possible to carry 2 bodies in the f-3x. like a 40D with a 70-200 and an xti with a 10-22??

With the 70-200, I'd say no. With a couple of shorter lenses, yes you could. If you were willing to carry the 70-200 off the camera, you could (lens or body in an outside pocket maybe); if I needed that bag and a lens combo like that, that's what I'd do; once I reach the scene at least one camera comes out so the situation resolves itself.

Thanks for the suggestions, Jon! Though, I though the F-3X rather large and pretty close to the F-802 in size?

[EDIT]Me stoopid! Nevermind. The F-3x is indeed smaller...well, it looks like my bag issues are solved!

Thanks Jon and littlegreenman!!

Jon, I was just wondering how do you position your camera and mounted 70-200? Do you lay it down, with the lens going across the bag? Or do you mount the camera vertically?

It goes in vertically, body at the top. The only bags I won't stow it that way are the F-1x and F-2 which aren't deep enough to do that.

I have the same problem and always feel like I need one more bag. Now I just live with the F-802 and don't look back. It's not that big and I can always find something else to put in there. I have the F-5X and that's a great little bag. Sometimes I put the 100-400 in that bag while having the 5D with 24-70 and 40D with 70-200 2.8 IS.

This is why you do what I'm doing...get both :p. For thetimes when I need to carry a lot, I'll have the F-802. When I just need a ouple of lenses, and a flash, F-3x will be my choice for the day. However, I'm going to buy te F-3x first, as if it's larger then I expect, and can hold all I need, I'll hold off on the F-802 until it becomes a necessity.

No in the F-802 and F-5X. I carry them separately. :)

Truth is, the 100-400 is not necessary for most events, so I keep it in my F-5X and take the other bag. I usually have my sons with me and they carry the smaller bag for me. The F-802 with the two cameras and heavy lenses weighs a ton! I was watching Jon with his bag last week and he's got it all organized so he knows exactly how to carry it all in his large bag. If I had all you mentioned in one bag, it would be the Pelican 1514.

Phew... you scared me for a second! I thought I had to start re-researching bags again! :-p

I do plan on getting a pelican, but only to use as in home storage. I'm not sure on the 1514 vs the 1564. Airport carry on size is of no concern to me, therefore I'm leaning towards the 1564 for future expansion. The F-3x and F-802 will be used as my day to day bags depending on thee vent and what lenses it calls for.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Suzie!

You are welcome! The Pelican cases are insane! I love mine. You won't be disappointed.
