Try the Google Dutch-English translation if you don't read Dutch.

Could be possible but wont know until Photokina or Canon announce it themselves.

interesting in the first link under the specifications tab it seems to indicate no IS while the title does. Perhaps that is an omission on the site or an xlate error.

But this sure sounds like a nice lens. Though I am likely to be very happy with my 55-250mm for a while yet. It's not much slower at f/4-5.6 and might not be sherman tank build quality but it snaps purdy pictures.

Still for a nice wide walk around lens like the rumored 18-200mm would be a very attractive package. Maybe that is why Canon has decided to dump a lot of the 28-135mm inventory as kit lenses with the 40d? Because basically this 18-200mm would seem to almost obsolete the 28-135mm lens.

Not that I can find on any other website - or for sale in any Japanese shop.

There's a Nikon AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 though.

i just read the other link as well - there it's f/3.5-6.6 which I presume is a typo. It says the lens will be available from the middle of September.

It also says under the specifications that it isn't optically stabilised...

Someone seems to have typed it into their website while they were half asleep.

No - I read it in the Dutch. It clearly says there's no IS in the specs.

Optisch gestabiliseerd...............Nee

I pointed out the ad because I believe that fotokonijnenberg is a big camera store. Maybe there is something to it.

Fotokonijnenberg is the largest and most reliable store for Photogear in The Netherlands.
If they weren't certain with this, they'd probably not put it up as a PRIMEUR even before Canon itself officially announces it.

There are a few more typos in the listing, like 3.5 - 6.6 etc. I reckon it does have IS, as indicated in the title.

Also, Foto Konijnenberg never ever listed a lens prior to it becoming available which didn't materialize in the end.

As I need to contact them next week anyway :), I'll ask :).

Kind regards, WIm

Hi Wim,
Please post back to let us know what they say about it. I'm sure everyone is curious.

Shouldn't this be in the rumors section?

It is not a rumour if it is on the site of fotokonijnenberg the way they announced it.

Kind regards, Wim
