Finally pulled the trigger and order myself a Sigmalux. Went with a brand new one rather than used for warranty purpose ($150 for a peace of mind). Not sure if Sigma warranty is transferable.
The shop that I ordered from test out the lens on the Canon 7D body to make sure its focusing properly. Hopefully, I don't have to send it in for calibration. Now the waiting game begins.

That's a wise decision to buy a new one with warranty. I learned it the hard way. If I were to buy another copy of Sigma 50mm, I would buy a new one with warranty. ;)

Regarding transfer, it looks like that, as far as you can prove that it's purchased within a year, they don't care if you were the original owner.

This lens is kinda frustrating... :/

When it delivers, it delivers fantastic images with great sharpness... But when it wails, it just fails miserably. The issue is the inconsistency :( Sometimes it feels that it just doesn't know how to focus correctly :( Sadly it isn't even that it's inconsistent only in the dark... no, it can focus perfectly in the dark too :D... but I think that 9 focus points are not enough for this lens. Center point is too large and usually this lens delivers better with other focus points (unless I know where I need to focus when using center point).

So this lens is definitely not the lens that you keep on your camera when you give the camera to your friends that they can take pictures :(

I love & hate this lens... Bokeh is from another world and it's sharp... but it's as inconsistent as...

Issues for the sigmalux usually is because the AF is not spot on and needs calibration... so far that is the only major issue here that could easily be repaired/readjusted...

the first time I got this lens all I saw was bokeh.. nothing sharp :D after the calibration this is my fav lens .. from blah to wow...

This is too bad.....Mine is very consistant....May I ask....How long have you owned it? Are you used to Sigma HSM? Took me a bit to figure it out. I was used to Canon USM, for me, this took some getting used to.
Good luck...:)

Thanks!

Oh yeah, the 100/2 is by far my favorite lens. Absolutely loooove it. I just posted a couple of pictures from it in the MF thread. I'm looking for a wider prime thats on about the same level as the 100/2. I'm hoping the ZE 35mm lives up to the task (after I sell the 85mm - its great but I just never use it over the Zeiss).

I've been getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger on the 100/2.....I'm afraid of MF only though. I do quite a bit of MF but rely on AF for most applications.....But I really love the look of the CZ's.

The Contax or the ZE 100?

I was afraid of MF only as well, but after sticking with it for awhile its just as natural as AF to me (under the right circumstances of course). And oh man, the results are worth it. Throw in an EG-S and it becomes even easier. I still miss the focus more than I'd like at f/2, so it's pretty frustrating when an otherwise fantastic shot has some noticably missed focus. But again, nothing else really renders an image like those lenses. I'd like to move up to the ZE someday for the macro, just can't bite at that price yet.

Good luck...:)

I've owned it for few months now, after I bought it I had to take it for calibration and they adjusted it a bit. I know how to get the focus spot on, but it takes time (even if it's only tenth of a second) and then the moment might be gone...

I've owned the Sigma 30mm 1.4 before and it was good all the time, until I had to sell it to finance my flight back home from UK :(

Here's an example: Apparently there was nothing to focus in the second picture? ;)
