Shop called me, lens was ready. Went in and the shop staff checked it on the 5D and found it is front focusing 1cm:mad:. They are sending the body in with the lens to Sigma for calibration, said it will take 4 days:cry:, but will then be perfect:D. I believe them. It's going to be a long 4 days, but in the interim I can use my Sig 85 on my crop body:cool:

Lucky for you its only 4 days. It has been about 2 weeks for me and mine is sitting waiting on parts.
It's a 2-4 weeks turn around at CRISCAM.com. :(

2-4 weeks!!? Ouch:mad: Here in Taiwan red tape is usually pretty thin. If it comes back as sweet as I think it's going to be, it will be well worth the wait.

well im no stranger to large aperture lenses. it will be with me all week while i 1: evaluate the lens for correct focus; 2: learn its strengths/weaknesses; 3: just plain enjoy it. Of course if i find any focus errors i will have to decide whether i will send it in for cal or just exchange or return it. those decisions will be made before i debut it at a wedding.

but if it works out i will be in hog heaven! starting down the road to primes. i love it!

Still dunno about this lens - sometimes it appears soft at 1.4, at others it appears sharp (like this)
