I know it has the potential to be sharp as a hypodermic needle. But it is not extremely consistent. Distance doesn't seem to be a major factor in it either. It could also be needing a little bit of time to get to know her, as well as my spastic kids! Although I did note that there were times that made it seem shooting in shade with lower contrast areas available to focus it missed a bit. We shall see how it plays out over the next couple of days. In the meantime... Here's a few from today. And when you find yourself with a precious moment captured completely out of focus you make do.... Shawn l Gear

Mookalafalas Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 30, 2011 05:45 | #4985 I went to my shop to pick mine up after calibrating with my body, and lo, when the staff checked it for me, it was still front focusing a bit up to 2.8. So...they are sending it back again and said they should have it by Wednesday. Without my 5d I slapped my sig 85 on my crop body and it is awesome. I honestly don't mind waiting as I am enjoying the other combo so much. Call me Al Gear Flickr

And yh, I think it can often mis-focus but I don't know if it's a general characteristic of this lens (and other 50's) or just a fault! Jim Schemel wrote in post #12321345 @1.4 on 5D Nice! And yh, I think it can often mis-focus but I don't know if it's a general characteristic of this lens (and other 50's) or just a fault! Time will tell. I did see that it performed better on my 1DII than my 5D. I think I also prefer the focal length or field of view better on the 1DII than the 5D...but love the creamy, dreamy look on the 5. I'll be posting more as the week goes on. Hope I can trust it for next weekend's wedding. First of the season for me. Shawn l Gear
