At the one park in Perth that gives us some of those golden tones you Americans luckily get around Autumn, Hyde Park, with the little ones yesterday.

Was having fun with the dog this afternoon, playing with the Sigma and different processing techniques. (trying to emulate that washed out, filmy, creamy look :p) Damn the Sigma is silly sharp at ~f2  (also ISO3200 and not a hint of noise)

This one is just priceless. Not a huge fan of the faded processing, but that's just a matter of taste. This is a flat out great shot. Print it and frame it!

For the people who bought this in store, did you try a few copies in store to see if it was focusing fine? If so did you have to go through many copies to find a good one?

So of course you put them in front of the camera! ;) Nice shot!

Here is my oldest, the swimmer, a bit younger and still in the house. :D

this time I ordered one from B&H and it's been fine. On my 5D2 it needed no MA, on my 5D3 it needs +10 MA but is accurate.

but, when I went looking for one in Nikon mount ~3 years ago now, I tried 3 copies and all had a weird focus issue. They'd need one MA value for <10' and a different value for over 10'. Usually one of the two values was 0, but the fact you needed 2 values ment the lens could only really be used at one distance (either under 10' or over). So I went with a 50G then. Not sure if sigma's gotten better with their manufacturing or if I got lucky, but this issue was VERY easy to repeat with all the lenses they had in a local store. When I called the saleman blew me off thinking it was total BS. He was pretty surprised when I showed up and could show him the issue and repeat it. He was trying to say it was my technique and a result of the thin DOF, but it happened to him every time as well, and even if we used a tripod...

Thanks for the reply! Oh ok, I bought mine online from the Sigma dealer in my country (Australia) and when I got mine it was front focusing, even when in MF! One the weirdmimnoticed about it was that in the focus window on the lens it would go past the minimal and infinity focus indicator on the scale but on my Canon 17-40L it doesn't do that so its my theory that the lens was quite faulty! I had it calibrated but when it was returned it was the exact same but seemed softer :( I managed to get a refund though.

I'm now considering buying at a local store because even though it's $100 more they allow you to try it to make sure it's compatible to your body! I really want a good quality 50mm and the Sigmalux looks so amazing!!
