If I bought one of these lenses new now, is there still the potential of getting a problematic copy? I really want one of these, but I am turned off by all the disappointing stories.

I found yesterday on the hard disk wedding series for 2012 . I decided to make it the new. Black and white series . Photographed in the car in motion.
This lens is sold back in 2013, bought the 85 1.2 and 35 1.4.

I would suggest to not completely give up on this lens. I brought mine in twice for calibration to Phototech in NYC. First time it came back not much changed. I needed +12 MFA under 10 feet and 0 over 10 feet. It was very inconsistent. I brought my body in with it as well. They said they tuned the lens to the body. Second time I gave just the lens and asked for a redo. The lens is now very consistent at all ranges. It is also sharp at 1.4, but there is some CA wide open depending on the situation. I do need + 13 on microadjust on my Canon 5d Mark 3. Having said that my lens is perfectly sharp now.

First image is 0 micro adjust (shows heavy front focus). Second is +13 and spot on at 0.
