Sigma really has messed up here. I think they should just re-calibrate all the lenses they have now, not make customers send it back 90% of the time.

That's why I didn't buy this lens, not playing the game Sigma. Get it right FIRST.

Sorry, I wanted to get this lens pretty badly I think... disappointed. :(

a Week? I hope that is the case. The whole reason I'm delaying it is because sigma quoted me a 4-6 week turn-around time. Not fun.

Well, I believe it was 8 days total, maybe they're busier than when I shipped mine in...Good luck

Well I aim to send it in this week. Does anyone know if they're OK with a photo-copy of the original receipt and warranty card? Or does it have to be the real deal.

Photocopy is fine, thats what they told me to do. Just got mine back from C.R.I.S. after adjustment and it is spot on. Took less than 2 weeks round trip.

Good Luck.

OK, shot with a buddy Saturday morning and he knew I'd just gotten the siggy... He has the 50L so we did a quick shoot off.... Funny thing, we used my body because my siggy was adjusted on it and we knew it'd work. Yeah, well his L was back focusing worse than my siggy was front focusing before the calibration... So his shots are all slightly OOF... I'll be posting them later (in a new thread in the lens forum). Oh, and ignoring the focus miss on the L, the siggy is right there with it optically. I used to think the canon 1.4 was close enough to save the money, but now after seeing the siggy? Yeah, it's certainly good enough.

Oh ok

I think a lot of people feel exactly the same as the Canon 50mm f/1.2 :) I'm one of them, but had very excellent results with my early copy of the siggy 50. I did sell it though, changing up my gear.... but I may pick up another one.

SO I got mine and on the 5D II with 15+ it's pretty much dead on I think. I have some OOF but don't know if it's me, the camera or the lens.

On my 5D it's pretty much garbage. If you were me would you leave it as is and use it only the 5D II or is worth it to send it to Sigma have then calibrate it and use it both on my 5D and 5D II???

Yeah send it in for sure. I'm going to. I'm in a similar boat, I can't use the lens on my 40D currently, and I'd like to be able to.

Also, as a side note, coming from a 50L, I think the Sigma can keep up with it. It does have something special (when working properly)

I only miss the f/1.2 of my 50L. the sigma more than makes up for most everything else. (for me)

How about focussing over 3 meters away?

I just discovered that if you try to use the Sigma 50mm for objects/subjects over 3 metres away, the focus is off. Anyone else noticed that?

Mine is less than a month old and it seems to have near objects spot on in focussing. I thought nothing of it until someone asked me to try to focus on subjects in the distance.

However, I also discovered that for far off subjects, I can focus with live view very accurately though.
