I don't use a strap very often, but when I do it for all day so I don't use the Canon strap, I got rid of that one in the 1st week of DSLR ownership.

I have an Optech and a Tamrac both with neoprene. The Tamarac as the quick release connections just a few inches from the camera so I can take it off to make juggling 2 bodies easier when switching back and forth.

Also the Tamrac strap is extra stretchy so I use it to carry something heavy like a 300mm f/2.8 to help with the weight.

Another vote for the POTN strap...they can be a little short for taller or bigger around shooters....and a lot short for tall, fat shooters like me...there is a simple and inexpensive solution. I use the POTN strap with these (external link)...excellent investment....makes a comfy strap even better!

That OPTEC strap I got from POTN did seem a littel uncomfortable in the padding the first two days and then it was great, I'm totally sold.

I take it those are longer than the standard POTN straps?

I hate to dis the Optec's, because so many like them, and they are sold here. But, the other issue I forgot to mention is length. The Optech isn't very long, and I couldn't get my cameras to hang where I wanted.

I think they are too short too. Also I don't trust those small plastic quick release buckles.

I tried the Optec's(just like sold here). Comfortable. But, I found them to be bulky. Also, the rubber, while comfortable, made my neck sweat.

That's what I hate about mine. I have a big/short neck, and for me these POTN straps really don't turn me on.

are there any other USER opinions on the straps? I am researching some now since my Canon strap digs into my neck.....I am 5' 7" so the shortness of the strap should not affect me. thanks to the users of straps that posted!

i'm 5'8" and the POTN strap is extremely comfortable. i do have to admit though that it's on the shortish side...
having said that, it's heaps better than the canon strap which really digs into my shoulder...

I have to agree. Wilt mentioned this before....I tried it....and switched from the Pro Loop (POTN) strap. It is just as comfortable as the Pro Loop, but fits in bag much better.

Op/Tech Pro Loop Strap on the 1D2N, Classic on the 300L. :D

I love that I can disconnect the shoulder strap to keep it out of the way (how I shoot most of the time) and toss it in the bag for when I need it. It's extremely comfortable; so much so that I never really notice it.
