Well I had a chance to extensively test the 120-300 with the extender in very good light. It definitely, even in good light, loses a little bit of responsiveness in AF, but not that much if you have good light. Unfortunately, almost all the good shots I got with the full reach of the extender were of other kids (not mine), so I await permission to post from parents to show full reach. For some reason, my own son and I were having an off day with each other.

At least he finally got better fitting pants befitting an all-star. This shot didn't use the full reach with the extender, but it was on the lens:

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything on your previous posts, but those elastic waist pants were the worst!

Since he's the youngest of 4 boys, things tend to get recycled :D

This is one of the reasons why I'm slow to pick up new equipment, the kids and their costs come usually first.

So anything to nitpik about the photo? I will post more with full use of the extender shots as soon as I get permission.

Great shot - nice to see one without gauking officials in the background!
Who cares about the hole in the knee? When I was his age I had holes in far worse places than my knees
BTW, that belt looks great :D)

TINY nit-pick. Horizon looks crooked.

Like I said, not a huge criticism! :)

Dodge the shadow under the brim and noise ninja. Mom's in our league always complain about the brim shadows, but the hole in the knee makes him really look like a ball player. Great shot.

Thanks everyone, it's only due to you folks here that I've learned anything at all. At this game there was a thrilling, absolutely thrilling play at home plate, which I missed, and I keep kicking myself, my reaction time to stuff like this is pretty poor. I'm having a hard time catching the plays in the field, and I'm despairing of whether or not I'll ever get it. :(

Khall - when you said "new pants or new lens," which would you choose? ;)

Looks overprocessed to me, sorry.
