throw me some help, would ya? ;)

I have a girl interested in doing some pics of her and her kids. Her husband just left a couple of weeks ago to serve in Iraq. So she wants some pictures to send to him. Problem is, I do most of my work outside, so what could I come up with to possibly make them a little "patriotic" looking? Got any suggestions...or should I just keep them classic and do the traditional dress-the-same kinda photos?

flag in the background perhaps. i was never good at ideas, but im curious to see what you can come up with

are there any war memorials or statues nearby for a backdrop?

How old are the children? Perhaps kids with sparklers, kind of a 4th of July theme.

she has two kids probably around 8 and 9 and twin girls not even a year old. I think I'll have my hands full! Keep the ideas coming, they're great so far!

You could have one kid in red, one in blue, and the twins in white.

War memorials are typically about the fallen; I might avoid that and stick with up beat.

Since the 4th is coming up, something outside around dusk and the older kids with sparklers does sound like a good one.

I like the sparkler idea. Another thought woud be if you have access to a tank ,at a base or in front of a VFW or American Legion post, you can sit the kids on part of it.
I hope he returns safe.

With the 4th of July coming up you can meet them at a fireworks show and, during the finale you can have them look at you with fireworks in the background and pop a flash to light them up.

A little "cheesy" I know, but it'll look good, too.

Maybe drape the little ones in a flag...

And when you send him the pictures....tell him that Eric said thank you.

Have you asked her what sort of photos she wants to send to her husband?

The 4th of July is coming up next week. There should be plenty of patriotic stuff around. Maybe even go to a fireworks thing and have the kids take a portrait outside with the fireworks. That should be fun. I have a mini memorial at our county grounds. It's beautiful and well landscaped. I know there must be something close by to you as well, if you ask around.

I would bet that he would be happy with pictures of the kids having fun running around.

For the wife -- I think I'm stealing this picture from someone, but I'm thinking of the wife, black background, hugging a jacket or shirt or something of his, looking into the camera.
