I recently noticed the +/- flash icon appears on the LCD screen whenever I switch to M mode. Does this happen with your G3? Goes to show how attentive I've been over the last year!

More info | It means that you have adjusted your flash exposure compensation or intensity one way or the other in the FUNC menu. It's letting you know that the camera is no longer set at the "base" setting for flash power. Once you went back to the base setting - that icon I believe will disappear from your screen.

Jan 06, 2005 11:21 | #4 Richard & Bauerman ... thanks for your replies. Just for fun I reset the G3 to factory default settings. The flash +/- icon still shows up in M mode. Unlike yours Richard, mine only shows in the M mode. At least I now know this is another canon ploy to make me wonder what's going on (like the default to 1/60 in AV mode). LOL Thanks again.
