so I am new to the whole SLR picture taking thing, these were my second outing and some of my favorites..and helpful advice is much appreciated. These were all pretty much straight out of the camera.

The focus on number two looks like it's at the base of the leaf and stem, but it's difficult to tell. Also, the bright white spots in the background is distracting. The DOF is very narrow on #3 making it hard for me to focus on something. #4 is a good composition on the flower and water, but the background is really distracting. I love #5!

#4 and #5 really really stand out.. the rest the dof really hinders the picture specially

#3.... its easy to see what it focused on... stopping it down to 2.0 or 3.2 would have freed up some dof and made the picture a lil better...

#5 is just plain awsome


tryin my best with a xti 24-85mm usm, 50mm 1.8 mk3, and kit lens.

I like 4 & 5. 4 could have used something else in the picture, something in foreground or even background that gives it a little depth.

Going to add #1 to the list too, it caught my eye, kept going back to it.
