...doing this type of organized portraiture. Most of my past stuff has been just with random encounters on the street.
I was looking to see if anyone has any tips in reguards what to look for with the models poses, and how to light properly using the reflector and such.
Here are a few of the shots.
I think the hardest thing, is getting the expressions you want out of the model...

Did you use a fill flash of any sort or just the reflector? #3 definitely seems like it could use some additional light on the model's face. Model is quite pretty (What are those things on her cheeks? Nails?) but you should be careful about what she wears. Dress is quite nice but in the full body shot (#2) the color of the dress bleeds onto her legs (hence the purple legs). I think poses and expression are ok. Not bad!

No, I only used the reflector.. it's all I really have.
The things in her face are dimple piercings....when she takes them out they'll leave her with dimples.
I'll be sure to take all that other stuff into account for next time. thank you :D

Wow...people are putting things in their face just to get dimples? I've personally never worked with a reflector myself but I gather for #3 if you have the reflector on the photog's right and reflect that light from low to high back into the model's face it may work better.

I think they are beautiful. The cheek piercings that is lol. The photos are nice too. I need to practice with a reflector.

Yes, reflector with flash to get shadows away from the face. You did a good job with lighting but the last one, her face is in half shadow and that is distracting. The eyes are the most crucial part of the shoot, so focus on it. And the piercings are distracting as well. But she is who she is. Just make the best exposure you can flattering all the features.

nice shots. just a question for you, how big is your reflector? if it's small then it's really hard to light the model for a body shot, you may have to settle for for just the face unless you want to just spotlight her. so I would say just try to light the model as much as the size of your reflector...i hope that makes sense :-P :-)

For full body shots, you'll want a reflector at least as tall and wide as your model. Folding reflectors do not spread light the way a flash head does.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)
