Hey folks,
I have an August Wedding where the bride is insist now that she wants an album (that was not in the original request). In the past I have not offered albums because of my target audience and they have never requested one. I do not do weddings full time, just on request and if it fits with the rest of my shooting schedule. I am registered with all of the high end companies but know that is out of her price range. So, I have read various and mix reviews on the budget books like Mpix, Picaboo, MyPublisher, and Lulu. I have not ordered any of these or see them first hand. I would like to know from you guys if you are forced to only offer these low end books to your customer, which would you choose?

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you not to go with My Publisher. HORRIBLE color. Do you have an account with Asuka? I haven't tried Collages' albums yet, they are the "book" type also. I heard nice things about http://www.ragandbonebindery.com/ (external link) but I don't know for sure what they are like.

Ihad mpix book done and for the money it was pretty decent. Not sure what her budget is if it sub $150.00 might make a decent book for them. Remember your time. The firs time putting one together take a while just learning the software etc

Thanks Greg. That's about where I think they can be is about 150-200. Mpix and Picaboo are the two I was looking at the closest. Picaboo gives you a bit more discount under their "pro wedding" package. I know that you always have to remember that you usually get what you pay for. I just want to be able to get them something that will have something they can look through or display. We know after a short while it will end up in a box or stored away for years to come and hardly ever touched again. I just didnt want it to appear to be some cheap quality that looked like I printed it in a consumer level print and slapped together.

Sell them a CD then have them do it themselves. A LARGE portion of the cost of a wedding album that I sell is the cost of my time to make it. Trust me when I say it takes AGES when you first start. If you decide to do it limit them to one photo per page, that'll be pretty quick and easy. If they want anything complex of fancy charge for your time or outsource it, but then the cost will rise to $1000+
