I've not posted on here in ages, but that's mainly because I've been shooting a lot of uninspiring football, gigs and corporate events. However, I did get to indulge my passion and shoot the MotoGP at Donington Park last weekend.

As always, all comments welcome, that is unless you don't like my 'crazy' angles!

Melandri looked quick, but really wasn't.

The Melbourne loop is a great place to shoot, especially as the kerbs provide a nice bit of fill flash to photos.

Nicky Hayden was back on form this weekend on the new pneumatic valve Honda.

The weather took a turn for the worse on Saturday, leaving me drenched as I inexplicably leave my waterproofs in the annoyingly inaccessible press room.

First I go far too long without getting a celebration in footy, now Toseland's crash happens when I'm shooting tight and with low shutter speeds. Cock.

And I really ought to put at least one shot from the race in... Stoner crosses the line after dominating the race. Unfortunately a load of people were incredibly stupidly running on to the track as he crossed the line, knocking me sideways resulting in a crap shot of this gratuitous wheelie!

By far my favorite. Shame about the weather though.

Thanks, guys!

They were all shot with my trusty MkIIn and 300 f2.8 L IS with a 1.4TC clamped to the back, apart from #2 where I used a 70-200 f2.8 L IS.

Cracking shots Pete, love the inside shot of Rossi. I take it you were signed on for the event?

Only to further add to the love of number 2. That shot is superb.

It hurts to see Marco struggling so much, in free practice at Assen there were two 250 riders quicker than him.

Its a shame about the Toseland sequence, guess that's why we still all chase the shots.

what do you mean by 'chase the shots' ?

Yea, #2 is epic! really like #1 as well. what shutter speed are you using. On my 70-200 I usually shoot at 1/200 to get some blur. Yours looks spot on. I tend to have lots of throw aways it seems when shooting for the blur. Then again you got an IS so I'm sure you can drop down a bit longer shots and get away with it. I can't wait till I got some extra cash to get that lens. I'm proud of my sigma. Does a good job.

I love shooting motorcycle racing (only do it at a local level) Shooting karting bores me, but it's money I guess. Shooting a superbike or moto gp race would be intense. lucky guy.

As always, cheers guys!

darren_h: Yea, after three years of trying, I finally got accreditation. Not that it makes much difference given the quality of other people's work on here!

propagandabikes: Yea, I always manage to miss those big shots, god knows how I manage it! Then again, I know a staff shooter for PA who didn't get a celebration shot from a football match for about 6 months!

jadam: I' a bit embarrassed to admit that the first pic is only 1/400, however it was bloody windy so was tricky panning at any lower speeds! However, come the qualifying I dropped it down to about 1/40, although I've got none of those shots to hand. I must admit I do love shooting MotoGP and World SBK, shame I only get to cover it when it comes to the UK though!

Very nice pics, as a budding bike photographer the more the better!
So on the way to booing Stoner on the podium, the muppets knock a photog for six in the process. pity they didn't take 3 years to get paperwork for track access.

C & C most welcome.
