Tried a couple new spots at MSP today. The first had poor angles and too many power lines, etc., in the way. The 2nd spot would be good when the wind is different and the planes are landing. Today, they were taking off.

I think the 70-300 IS USM did a decent job handheld. The 300mm with 1.4x was a little too long for this angle, but will be good when they're approaching.

I'm getting SLIGHTLY better at tracking in flight, but have a long way to go. It is a lot of fun to be close enough to really hear/feel the engines - they're such graceful craft.

Still hoping to catch a 747 someday. I think there's a 5-6 pm daily that departs for Tokyo, have to find out about that.

These are SOOC, sharpness bumped to 5-6 in DPP, Tone Curve assist for RGB on a couple, also in DPP.

Thanks for looking.

This with the 300 & 1.4. One of the others might be also, not sure, EXIF should be intact.

where were you standing to get these shots? Shots came out pretty well besides some that didn't make the whole plane into the frame.

Nice shots. You might want to clone out the antenna in the third one.

Nice shots, love the angle on number four.

Clone out the antenna on number 3. I just flew an A330 from Beijing to Tokyo, there was an A340 about two miles off the right wingtip that I got some shots of.

Here ya go - caught a 747, from Tokyo.
