Thank you. Have a great day! I have always had a camera nearby for most of my life but became a "late bloomer" into my 40's when I really got bitten by the photography bug. Weather has always been a passion of mine and I've spent many years as a Storm Tracker and media photographer. Auto Racing is also one of my great interests along with Amateur Radio and Firearms. Thanks for stopping by!

The old Garmin works fine in my "older" Rav. I've been a garmin fan starting almost 20 years ago. Garmin GPS III being my first. Primary use being for off road. Unfortunately garmin left us off road users behind for more glamorous marine and aviation market. I still use old faithful garmin 276C and have got their newer Overlander, running on android which doubles up with off road and on road maps, on road having turn by turn and lane change directions. However the map data is still a ways behind google maps. For on road navigation I always rely on Google maps on the phone. However as Capn Jack has pointed out a dedicated GPS has its advantages. I found out back in Australia going bush or in remote areas where there is no phone coverage. This can be over come if you plan in advance. I did this last year in Washington State on my trail drives, I would download areas of the trail I planned to drive from google maps onto my iPad and use that where I didn't get phone coverage. I use downloaded birdseye imagery on my garmin unit when I'm in the desert to get an idea of the dune formations etc ahead. Have also gone through a couple of nuvi units, which not my favourite being so temperamental. Neal

Thank you for this information. I did not know it was possible to download areas of a trail for instance. I have no idea how to do that either! Not sure I would need that information really, but it is interesting to learn that is possible! Charles

Kebler was very weird this season. Some patches of beautiful color, while the rest of the area was still green. I went up there maybe 6 years in a row in the fall (won't make it this year though) and the far west side of the pass does change days (a week?) later than the higher section does, that part up around Horse Ranch Park. You'd think a place that's a continuous aspen forest would pretty much be in sync on that sort of thing, but it's not.
