The other day my daughter dropped off a box of 'old stuff' with the comment "there's some photos in there". And, indeed there were.

This is a road shot taken on the Tioga Pass road in Yosemite National Park. The car is a 1932 Auburn Victoria Brougham and the altitude is around 10,000 ft.. Had to stop every few miles to keep it from boiling over. The print's from a roll of 35mm Kodachrome taken with a Practika 1.9 SLR. The date is 8 Sep 1956. I know because it's our honeymoon.

The Auburn was eventually sold and the wife has passed and the old Tioga Pass road is long gone. But, hey, I still have the photo!

Nice photo and equally nice piece of road
Looks like any excursion off the road would see one way down hill.
Surprised there's no barrier in place

For some parts of the road there are very sharpe drop offs with no barriers.

Some stretches have no shoulder, no guard rail and a large drop off. I did it early one morning in the winter when it was snow packed. I drove very slowly.

That road is insanely fun (until you get stuck behind people); will be wonderful with the fall color in a month!
