That reminds me of our US road trip 3 years ago. Some of your roads are so long and straight - the vista never seems to change - the only thing that indicated I had got anywhere was the recorded mileage.

That I am sure is true in the western states, but it is not true in the midwest at all. I am in Indiana some straight roads. My daughter lives in Virginia which is even worse. Very curvy hilly roads there.

That was one we did, from Furnace Creek en route to Sequoia NP. Now that was a real contrast - and some beautiful gut-wrenching twists & turns (or so my wife & daughter told me).

I do fancy returning sometime, to cycle from Death Valley to Las Vegas.

This reminds me of something out of the 'Truman Show'. Very pretty houses though. The houses in the background or mostly all of the background looks like it's a digital painting. Wow
