You can't go wrong with any SanDisk Extreme III product. I bought (2) 2GB cards and (1) 4GB card and although I'm still breaking them in, they have been outstanding so far. The prices are right and with the rebate, it's a home run.

I'm using the Sandisk 8GB Extreme III in my 40D, and it seems to have a hard time catching up sometimes while shooting bike races in burst mode using sRAW format.

Hopefully upgrading to the Extreme IV will eliminate the problem....

Yeah, I have several 4Gb Extreme IIIs and can recommend them. I wouldn't use 8Gb cards though, partly because they slow down a bit as they become fuller (so negating the point of buying fast cards) but mainly because 8Gb is a LOT of images to lose in case of a problem. Sure, the cards don't corrupt often but I have known someone lose an entire days shoot, in a hard to reach location, because he dropped the camera in the sea whilst shooting seabirds on the trip back. Insurance bought him a new camera, but the images (almost 16Gb worth) were irreplaceable. If he had used 4Gb cards, he would still have 12Gb of the days results. Same problem if someone snatches your camera.

Sure, I can go through a few cards in a day sometimes but that isn't a problem.

Having shot over 2000 images so far on my Lexar Pro 133X 4GB CF cards, I haven't had any problems.

Over the past 6 years I switched to SanDisk exclusively for CF cards.

One reason being is their customer service. I had a bad card awhile back. I contacted them and they replaced it w/o asking any questions except for my address to send the replacement to. :D

I recently bought the 8GB Extreme III card for my 40D. Fast card both writing to and downloading.

I have been using a 1Gb SanDisk for the last 2 years, with no problems. Six months ago, I decided I needed more Gb's, so I purchased a 4 Gb Lexar Pro 133X. The Lexar lasted 4 months before corruption. Needless to say, it's the 4Gb SanDisk Extreme III for me.There is a reason why most prefer SanDisk.

I use the sandisk EX III 8 gb. If you are going to shoot raw I would recommend the 8gb over the 4gb. No worries about sandisk quality

I used to use only SanDisk as well, but recently after reading some of the speed tests and reliability tests on the web that Transcend is 99% there with SanDisk but only 1/2 the price.

I bought two 16GB Transcend and have been using it with my 40D without any issues for the past couple of months, I can get 6.5fps without any problems, recovery time is faster than my SanDisk Extreme III 8GB card (see internet speed tests).

16GB Transcend $77 from amazon (external link) vs. 8GB San Disk III $61, or $150 for 8GB SanDisk IV.

Get the SanDisk Extreme III's. I have both the 4GB and the 8GB's and am very confident that they will never let me down. They are built extremely well and should last you for many years of use, making them a wise investment over the cheaper cards.

I have used Sandisk IV 2G on my 30D. I know use Sandisk IV 8GB and 4GB on my 40D. Pretty fast. I wished I had bought the ducatis, but they did not have them in stock....:(

SanDisk cards are pretty rugged and they claim to be waterproof ( anyone wants to verifyt that ...? :) )
