Hi - I've just ordered my 5D and a friend of mine has recommended a Focus Screen and I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on these - does it make the viewfinder brighter and better? All comments welcome....Thanks

Personally, I would only bother if I was using manual focus lenses. Don't really see the point otherwise.

I also see no point unles it's manual focus. I did use one on my Bronica, but on a Digital SLR I personally don't see the point.

Cheers guys - I thought that it may be useful if I was using manual focus for night photography? I guess that at £20 approx. it is always something I can pick up anytime!

So, I take it there isn't a idfference in the 5D viewfinder with and without it? I guess the confusion is that I read somewhere it makes the viewfinder "brighter" ?

The EE-D is the same as the standard screen with lines, which aid in framing you image.

B&H description, "The Ee-D grid-type focusing screen maximizes viewfinder brightness and is optimized for use with f/5.6 EF lenses and slower. It provides a 3-line (horizontal) by 6-line (vertical) grid for easier composition and horizon alignment. "

I have one and think it is well worth the few $s.
