Just wonering why it HAS to be wireless? Your description does not sound like you will have the lights very far apart. I think I would look at wired options as well. They are 100% reliable and not really restrictive.

I don't know about you, but personally I hate being tethered to something while trying to move around. Plus wires can just get in the way.

Ok this is what I would need since the PW-II route is way too $$$ for me right now.

Skyport and 1 extra receiver (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …t_RX_Dedicated_Radio.html (external link))

Now correct me if Im wrong people, I would need 1 extra receiver for my 3rd flash, I could use these receivers via sync cord they come with. I could use these from any angle with no "IR" restrictions like the Canon ST-E2, so if Im outside and my flashes need to be BEHIND me, I could do that with these correct?

Thos are the RX triggers. You need universal.

One of these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …niversal_Radio_Slave.html (external link)

Two of these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …niversal_Radio_Slave.html (external link)

And three of these:
http://flashzebra.com/wizardcables/hotshoe.shtml (external link)

and light stands, umbrella brackects, and umbrellas if you don't have them already.

I have light stands already. I wont be using umbrella's, I have 1 softbox for people, but I will be using these mainly for cars and dont need/want umbrella's

Here is a test pic I took this weekend.

I'm a little late to the party, but look at it like this. Pocket Wizards are like Snap-On tools. Way too expensive, but if you make your living with them, the price doesn't really matter.

The Cactus triggers are like the cheap tool you buy at the dollar store or Wal-Mart. We used to call them "dent-in-the-wall" tools because when they slip and bust your knuckles, you pick it up and throw it and make a dent in the wall. If you are just playing around and it doesn't really matter if it works or not, these are ok. Just be prepared to use them a couple of weeks, then trash them.

Skyports are like Craftsman tools. They will do the job but aren't very sexy. But at half price, they are just right if you ise them two or three times a month. I have Skyports.

Now, Alien Bees is coming out with a unit that costs less than Skyports. Too early to tell, but they have promise.

You need a longer cord! Before all the wireless stuff I have a 75 foot cord made. There was no restrictions.

There are several options but one is http://www.paramountcords.com (external link)

They are still pricey but 100% reliable and don't take battery's!

What you need depends on what you have. There are cords that will have hot shoes on the ends others are the phone jacks, Just browse thru the site keeping in mind what you have and what connection it takes to fire them.

Yes that is correct. I believe the skyports have something like a 400' range.

As long as the transceivers are communicating with the transmitter, what you state is correct. Radio waves are awesomes. :)

$100 or $400 is the question lol...

Just having the cable attached and having to always be aware of it is a restriction. Plus having to have cables run between all three flashes and having to hide them or photoshop them out would be a pain. I know I'd need at least 200' of cable to run between three flashes and the camera just to not be limited.

Good point. I think Im going to go with the Skyports or Cactus... havent decided which one yet tho. $100 vs $400 is big difference. But then Ill need to sell my brand new ST-E2 lol.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Cactus/Gadget Infinity Triggers? (http://www.gadgetinfinity.com …oductid=16766&cat=0&page= (external link))

I could get everything I needed for $80. If I went the Skyport route, it would be $480 and I would sell my Canon ST-E2 and pay the difference (around $300).

They're not the most reliable things out there and I believe they have a problem firing the 430EX more than once.
