Can the 40D transfer to CF card rate go above 15 GB/sec?
Thinking of adding more cards to my collection. Ultra II or Extreme III?

http://www.robgalbraith.com/ (external link) may help you there.

There's a lot of CF speed tests there.

Think I will wait. Was going for the ultra II 2gb for $12.99 at buy.com. I like the extreme III 4gber's.

all cards max out around 13mb/s except for on a 1dsmkiii with a UDMA compatible card. ultra II 2008 editions are 15mb/s max write, so you'll likely max out the camera with that. however, with a 10 dollar difference between a ultra II and extreme III, and a rebate on extreme III cards (40 for 8gb, 100 if you buy two of them), it's actually cheaper to get extreme III cards... and cf to cf reader speeds are 30mb/s rather than 15

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Doesn't sound right, 1 for $40, 2 for $100?

Make sure your computer has USB 2.0 plug some of them have a mixed, or if you use a USB hub, most of them are still 1.0. That would limit your transfer speed.

That's the rebate. Buy 2, get more back. Buy 3, get still more back. Not pay $40 for 1 or $100 for 2.
